Your Responsibilities

As a lapper at Microbas, you will work with extreme precision and surface finish requirements in complex materials. To achieve flatness, angles, and parallelism with tolerances as small as 0.001 millimeters, the material is lapped. Lapping is a special type of grinding where two materials are rubbed against each other with an abrasive in between. Lapping of metals is mostly done mechanically, but to meet our precision requirements for particularly sensitive materials, manual work is almost always required.

You will learn the lapping process and associated measurement methods from one of our experienced employees who already masters the technique. Once you are comfortable in the role, you will work on each detail either independently or in smaller teams.

Your Background/Qualities

Those applying to Microbas likely have an industrial or mechanical background. The work of a lapper is both physically demanding and mentally challenging, as you need to be able to translate a drawing with extreme tolerance requirements into various dimensions of the material you are processing. You should possess inner calm, patience, and precision. Experience in reading technical drawings and various measurement methods is a strong merit.

As a person, you are curious and eager to learn. You want to take responsibility for what you pass on, while also being able to work in a structured and efficient manner, both independently and in teams.
